Tribute & Message From The Family

Roy Andrew Gaia, Sr., passed away Wednesday, May 01, 2013 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House. Roy was a native Memphian and moved to Olive Branch sixteen years ago. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School, class of 1948. He served two years in the United States Army and was a decorated Korean War combat veteran. He was a sales representative for Georgia – Pacific Corporation for over 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Lumberman's Club of Memphis. A devout Catholic, he was a long time volunteer at St. Francis Hospital Nursing Home. He attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch, and was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 14051 at Queen of Peace, a member of the Men's Club, the Parish Council, and served as chairman of the Pro-Life Committee. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Margaret Roberts Gaia, his son Andy Gaia (Anna Lee), his daughter Suzanne Gaia, and his granddaughter Elizabeth Gaia, all of Memphis.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2nd at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 8455 Germantown Road, Olive Branch, MS, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3rd at Queen of Peace with burial to follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception following the burial at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Birthright of Memphis, or Christian Brothers High School.
