Tribute & Message From The Family

Susan McNeese Vorder Bruegge, grew up in New Orleans, LA (where she was born) and Washington, DC, where she attended Western High School and later George Washington University (GWU) earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology. There, she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. At GWU she met and later married in 1945 the late honorable Howard J. Vorder Bruegge. She died in Memphis, TN at age 91.

A communicant of Holy Rosary, St. Louis and St. James parishes, she devoted her early adult life to raising three sons: Howard, Christopher, and Andrew. She belonged to Madonna Circle, the Lawyers Auxiliary and other organizations. She also contributed to a wide number of charitable organizations. In addition to her three sons, she is survived by a sister, Laura, of McLean, VA; three daughters in love--Susan, Jayne, and Donna; four grandchildren--Joseph, Zachary, Jason and Misty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, she was interested in reading, especially history and Regency romance novels. Though she never had much interest in modern technology, she enjoyed in her later years her digital tablet for reading. She was a past master at acrostic puzzles, and completed crossword puzzles in ink, and enjoyed watching movies. She loved flowers and kept houseplants and flowering vines on her patio for many years. A lover of chocolate, she delighted in dining at lunch or dinner with friends and family throughout her life. She rarely, however, considered breakfast worth waking for.

She lived her later adult life doing as she pleased for several decades including travel to Italy, England and other European countries. She spent her final days at Methodist Hospice Residence supported by her family and the loving caring staff there.
