Maria Amparo Mansilla Brantley passed away peacefully after an extended illness on September 5 at the Ave Maria Home. She left her beloved mother, siblings, nieces and nephews in Burgos, Spain to follow her heart and husband Frank to start a new life in the United States in 1958. She was born in Cardeñadijo (Burgos), Spain in 1922 and was one of eight children to Teodoro and Mariana Mansilla Palacios. She had a great faith, a loving heart, and courage that took her across oceans. She worked for the Burgos city government before immigrating to this county followed with Christian Brothers University and enjoyed participating in many volunteer organizations. She was active in her church parish, St. Louis, an avid gardener, and a wonderful cook. She loved knitting and walking, and being a grandmother or "Baba," as affectionately called by her grandchildren. She had a warm heart, friendly spirit, and inspired many through her acts of kindness while journeying through life. She leave behind her husband Frank, two sons Ted and Ben (Linda), two grandchildren William and Maria, a sister Josefina and many nieces and nephews in Spain that deeply loved her. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Ave Maria home for their loving care and compassion they provided her during her illness.

The visitation will be 9:00 am Monday, September 9th at St. Louis Church with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made on her behalf to the Alzheimer's Association.
