Charles Swift Treadwell, 85, passed away at home in Germantown, Tennessee, Friday, March 22, 2013 after an extended illness. Born on January 26, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Timmons Louis Treadwell Jr. and the late Jewett Alcorn Swift, he was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart who became his wife, Margaret Munn Treadwell of Enid, Oklahoma, his late brother Timmons Louis Treadwell III of Memphis, his late stepbrother, Doyle Cotton, Jr. and his late stepsister Betty Cotton, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Cecil Munn, Jr.,Esq. of Ft. Worth, Texas (Carolyn-surviving) and his brother-in-law Bill Munn of Enid, Oklahoma.

While attending Culver Military Academy he was a member of the renowned Black Horse Troop. He graduated from Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and attended Southwestern at Memphis.

Swift had a long career in the automobile and funeral businesses. He had automobile dealerships in Memphis, Tennessee; Enid, Oklahoma; and Boulder, Colorado. His funeral home interests included Treadwell-Norris Funeral Home and his association with his friend, the late John Ford Canale at the Swift Treadwell and Canale Funeral Home (now Canale Funeral Directors).
Swift was a devoted Packard automobile enthusiast and a member of Packard's International.
He was a member of the Memphis Country Club and the Memphis Hunt and Polo Club.

He is survived by his sons Charles Swift Treadwell, Jr. (Sally), Peter Munn Treadwell (Cathy), Philip Alcorn Treadwell (Gay), a daughter Jewett T. Rankin, and a grandson he raised as a son, Carey A. Treadwell (Michal). His other grandchildren include Charles Swift "Spike" Treadwell III (Emily), Hunt Alcorn Treadwell (Allison), Peter Munn Treadwell, Jr., Catie Treadwell and Ryan and Noel Treadwell, in addition to a host of great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, March 26th at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3245 Central Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm. The service begins at 3:00 pm. Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alcorn Memorial Cemetery c/o J.T. Shannon, 2200 Cole Road, Horn Lake, MS. 38637, St. John's Episcopal Church, Methodist Hospice, The Church Health Center, or a charity of the donor's choice.
