James' "Jim" Francis Burns, 85, of Southaven, MS passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 13, 2013. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and received the WWII Victory Metal. When working for the Army Depot, as a Photographer, Jim took Elvis's Army Induction photos. He retired from the Social Security Administration. He was a member of Christ the Rock Catholic Church in Southaven Ms. as well as a Third Order Lay Dominican, Member of the Knights of Columbus and achieved a Master level Bridge player. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Honor Burns of Ireland, brother John "Buddy" Burns of Seal Beach, CA, and a sister Margaret "Tootsie" (John) Kelly of New York.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth" Bettye" Burns, daughters: Theresa (Gary) Hopper of Collierville, TN, Kathleen (Joe) Speck of Cordova, TN, Eileen Burns of Jackson, TN, Margaret Canon of Eads, TN., Sheila (Eric) Lewis of Memphis, TN, a son Kevin (Meg) Burns of Hernando, MS., a sister-in-law Irene Burns of California, seven (7) grandchildren and (8) great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews from California, New York, Tennessee and Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Canale Funeral Directors, 2700 Union Ave. Ext'd, with a Rosary at 7p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1695 Central Ave, with the Burial immediately following the service at Calvary Cemetery In lieu of Flowers, please make donations to the Dominican Poor Boys Priesthood Guild, New York or St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, Lexington Ave., New York. Or the "His Way" Retreat Center in Memphis
