James Robert (Jim) Chandler, passed away in his sleep peacefully at age 93 on March 23, 2013. He was preceded in death in 2008 by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Warder Chandler. His parents were the late William Ladelle and Irene Hockersmith Chandler. Born in Memphis in 1919, he was the youngest and last surviving member of that immediate family, which included older brothers William, Walter, Taylor, and a sister, Mary Florence. A 16 year U.S. Army/Tennessee National Guard veteran, he served as a captain and company commander in the 196th Field Artillery. Mr. Chandler saw extended duty with that unit in the Philippine theatre in World War II and again later during the Korean conflict.

A long time employee of D. Canale & Company, he retired as its General Manager in 1985. He leaves three sons: Bob, Pat and Rick Chandler; four grandsons, Donnie, Robert, Paul, and Jeff Chandler; a granddaughter, Casey Chandler Wylie; four great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. The family offers special thanks to his long-time caregiver, Rita Woodard.

Services for family and longtime friends will be held at West Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on April 3, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials in his honor be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
