Heart Emblem

Sarah Whitley Huettel Mitchell, 48, born September 26, in Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2013 after a brief illness. Whitley graduated from Saint Agnes Academy and attended The University of Memphis where she was active in Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
She loved to travel. Her favorite spots to relax were Pickwick Lake and Destin, Florida. Her most recent trips took her as far away as the Caribbean and Europe.

In 1996 Whitley was hired by D. Canale & Co as a Sales Representative. Her wit, humor, personality, compassion and "can do" attitude for customers made her an instant success. D.Canale became PYA Monarch which eventually became the current US Foods. Whitley was always a top performer with the company. She would be at the top of the sales leader board every month. Her major accomplishment was three time winner of the Presidents Cup which is awarded to the highest performers in the country. Whitley's winning of the President Cup in 2012 sent her on the trip of a life time to Rome, Italy. She endeared herself to her customers, many of whom she considered her very good friends. No one could ever replace Whitley in the eyes of her customers. Whitley's response most often was, "the answer is yes, what is the question?". Few people knew that every year Whitley would select a family from one of her customers and be Santa Claus, ensuring they had a joyous Christmas.

She is survived by her husband, Eric W. Mitchell; parents, Janet and Billy Huettel ; two sisters, Laurie (Charlie) Snyder and Cathy (John) Gay; brother Bill Huettel, Jr. all of Memphis; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Canale Funeral Directors. Services will be Thursday, 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Friends of St. Peter's or to the charity of the donor's choice.
