Stained Glass Emblem

Elizabeth Ginn Fleming, 54, died Friday, August 9, peacefully at home after a hard-fought battle with bladder cancer. Liz was born May 29, 1959, to Dr. and Mrs. Bob Ginn in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1977 and Auburn University in 1980. While at Auburn she married her high school sweetheart, Scott Fleming. Liz taught English and Art History at Christian Brothers High School for four years. After retiring, she spent the next 10 years attending thousands of sporting events (and a sprinkling of piano recitals) for her daughters, although it can be argued that she was more of a sideline socialite than a spectator. She was an active member of Independent Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Women of the Church Board and faithfully led a weekly women's Bible study. Not a week went by without Liz warmly welcoming guests into her home and making entertaining look easy. Liz could be found eating with friends on Friday nights at the Belmont Grill, shopping at least once a day at Kroger, walking her dogs each morning at Shady Grove Park, or browsing the racks of TJ Maxx on behalf of her daughters. Always a good audience, Liz was quick to laugh and generous with her smiles. She will be remembered for her gifts of hospitality, humor, wisdom, and grace.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Scott; her three daughters, Nell Womack (Joseph), Caroline Millsap (Henson) of Birmingham, AL, and Ruthie Turpin (Andy); her triplet grandchildren, Camille, Ann Fisher, and Rob Womack; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Bob Ginn; her siblings, Ellen Porter (Joe) of Beaufort, SC, Elaine Pacello (Tom), and Bob Ginn (Carol) of Olive Branch, MS; five nieces and six nephews; five great-nieces and two great-nephews; and her loyal dogs, Bob and Suzy.

Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11th and the funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12th, both at Independent Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her memory to Streets Ministries: P.O. Box 42181, Memphis, TN 38174 or www.streetsministries.org.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
