Velma Mae Fielder Gill, 93, died at home on Wednesday, June 27th, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Leonard W. Gill, Sr. She served as a member of the Ladies of St. Jude for more than 40 years and was recently honored for her volunteer service for the hospital. An active parent at St. Agnes Academy and St. Dominic School for Boys in the 1960s, she also worked for several years as a lighting consultant at Lighting Incorporated in Memphis. A parishioner at St. Louis Catholic Church, she is survived by her daughter, Linda E. Caudle (Michael L. Caudle) of Memphis; son Leonard W. Gill Jr. of Memphis; grandsons Michael Wesley Caudle (Kelly) of Memphis and Jonathan Matthew Caudle of Memphis; sister-in-law Mona Fielder of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and very dear friend Jennifer Schneider of Memphis.
The funeral mass will be 10:00 am today Friday, June 29th at St. Louis Catholic Church in Memphis with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Rector, Arkansas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Ladies of St. Jude.
